As part of the cooperation between SBV, Stadtwerke Flensburg and the Tele Columbus Group, Stadtwerke Flensburg is taking over the fibre optic lines to the homes. Tele Columbus then upgrades the house distribution systems for additional fibre optic operation. The homes supplied with fibre optic will then be handed over to Stadtwerke Flensburg. At this point, SBV members will be free to choose whether they want to use an internet connection via Stadtwerke's fibre optic, the gigabit cable connection including TV entertainment from PŸUR or the DSL offerings via the traditional telephone line for internet supply. The first 500 homes were reached with fibre optics in 2021. From now on, around 1,500 SBV homes will receive a direct fibre optic connection every year.
The strong offer for SBV members, with the double pack of gigabit cable supply plus direct fibre optic connections, is already ensuring competition right up to the front door. Unfortunately, there is not much to some of these doorstep promises: the residents of the houses connected with fibre optics will certainly not be unaware when the cables are to enter the houses and flats. Be it through construction work on the houses or during the installation of the fibre optic termination points in the flats. Only cable laying by Stadtwerke Flensburg and work on the house distribution systems by the Tele Columbus Group have also been agreed with the SBV.
