For more than 20 years, the International Day of Co-operatives has been celebrated on the first Saturday in July at the suggestion of the UN General Assembly. One of the aims is to raise public awareness of the work of co-operatives and draw attention to their social commitment.
We also celebrate this special Saturday with a small highlight: For several years now, more than 500 members have traditionally taken part in our "Breakfast with the neighbours" campaign.
How can you take part? Our members get their neighbourhoods together and organise a communal breakfast. This can be in a flat, on the balcony, in the attic, on the green space in front of the building, in the stairwell - the only limit to the imagination here is the space available on site.
Once the location and number of people have been decided, a member registers their house community with us and we pre-order bread rolls, which can be collected from a local bakery on the Saturday. We also come round with a little surprise for a flying visit - or even a cup of coffee.
With little effort, this guarantees a great start to the weekend for the whole household and brings the neighbours even closer together. In our opinion, there is no better way to celebrate such a day. Would you like to register? Then get in touch with Miriam Kohlsdorf.

Bingo afternoon, Christmas baking, summer party, bowling evening ... Where better to get to know each other than at a nice get-together with entertainment, delicious food and drinks! At least once a year, every SBV portfolio manager invites "their" members to a neighbourhood party - sometimes with the support of other local institutions. How and where the party is held can be very different. It is always free of charge. What counts is time spent together. True to our motto "live and live" ... and celebrate!
The SBV "Snack Schnack" barbecue trolley is always there. Its name says it all: you will be served delicacies from the grill: a snack. And it will be a meeting place: for a snack.
We announce the dates for the festivals well in advance by post or - for public festivals - via the SBV-Boten and our website. You can also find the dates and locations of "Snack-Schnack" from May to June in the calendar.
